“What an amazing opportunity for young children to learn about the history on their doorstep”

Shalbourne CE Primary School

An Introduction from our Learning and Community Engagement Officer

My name is Whitney Cawley and I am excited to have joined the team at Crofton as the part-time Learning and Community Engagement Officer.

I come with wide experience in education, both primary and secondary, and have studied Education at both undergraduate and master’s level. I hold qualifications from and have taught in both the US and UK systems, and also spent a period on the leadership team of a small international school in Bucharest, Romania. I enjoy people, learning and local history, and am excited to combine these through my role at Crofton.

Crofton is a unique resource which intersects with a range of educational subject areas, including STEM and History, as well as being an evocative location for outdoor community events. We have a fantastic team here, and I’m excited to be able to play a part in carrying on the work that’s gone before me — growing the educational side from early years through to secondary and university levels, with outreach visits and groups coming to Crofton, as well as connecting various community groups with the Crofton Story.
